LINDSAY KNOX: DENOUEMENT

Harcourt House Artist Run Centre, The Main Gallery
January 7 – February 19

Denouement is an assemblage of two- and three-dimensional work (photography, video projection, soft sculpture, and mixed media work) that focus on bringing resolution to the question "what does it feel like to look back on your life from the other side?" This multi-media installation explores the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience and appears as a dreamlike space where fiction and reality meet, well-known tropes merge, meanings shift, and past and present fuse. Lindsay Knox's tranquil, poetic objects evoke the aura of aesthetic astonishment and - through subjective associations and parallels - incite the viewers to make new personal associations. Her works are characterized by everyday objects in which recognition plays an important role by applying a poetic and often metaphoric language. The possible seems true and the truth exists, but it has many faces, as Hannah Arendt cites from Franz Kafka's Metamorphoses.
