Shannon Erickson – Circle of Life

“Flourishing Forms: The Mysterious Personality of Plants” & “Urban Empire”

Calder Library Gallery (at Edmonton Public Library)
February 2 - February 29

The “Flourishing Forms” exhibit turns a macro lens on the natural world. Delicate flora and fauna are preserved in beautiful photographs that skillfully convey the character of each botanical subject. From the graceful curves of delicate petals to the rhythmic repetition of leaves, every image tells a story of resilience and adaptability. The world of plants is presented in mesmerizing detail and touches on the fragile interconnectedness of all living things.

“Urban Empire” presents the fanciful, almost organic lifeforms of manmade structures set in unexpected scenes. Through patterns and shapes, and a narrow colour palette of blues and whites, we can see the magical nature of human ingenuity.
